Frequently asked questions

How does the laptop picker work?
It asks five questions — where you are buying (which sets the currency and the retailers), your budget band, the kind of virtual assistant work you do, how much portability matters, and whether you would consider a Mac. It scores our reviewed shortlist against those answers and returns the closest one to three machines. Everything runs in your browser: no data is submitted anywhere and no account is needed.
Why does it ask where I am buying?
Because the answer changes which laptops are even purchasable. Several models in our Philippine guide are PH-market SKUs that Amazon US does not carry, and several US picks are not sold through Shopee or Lazada. Choosing your region sets both the currency and the retailer pool, so you never get recommended a machine you cannot actually buy.
Are the recommendations affiliate links?
Yes. We earn a commission if you buy through the buttons shown, at no extra cost to you. The ranking logic does not weight commission rates — the picks are the same ones in our main buying guides, ordered by fit to your answers.
What if none of the results suit me?
Read the full guide instead. The picker deliberately keeps to five questions, so it cannot account for specialist needs like heavy video editing, CAD work or specific accessibility requirements. The main buying guide covers the spec reasoning in full so you can judge for yourself. If a combination has no in-band match — a Windows machine at the top PH budget, for example — the picker says so and shows the nearest alternatives rather than inventing a result.
